Gender

  Dorothy Allison is an author who express her point of view in gender saying, "Class, race, sexuality, gender and all categories by which we categorize and dismiss each other need to be excavated from the inside." This means people should stop judging other people for the type of gender they are. I agree with the fact that is stated in the quote, because every person is different in their own being. I believe people should not be judged based on class, race, or sexuality; people should not be categorize. Every person should  be treated equally. This can be clearly seen in The Queen Of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani, because the wealthy and poor people are treated the same even if they have different life styles. In the book of the Queen Of the Big Time it expresses three major points that relate to gender which are the ladies have to get married referring to my book Assunta is engaged to Alessandro without knowing each other just by pictures that they sent each other, ladies growing up or living in a farm have different responsibilities based on their works or jobs, ladies have different lifestyles than man.

I Am Nella

I am a young girl who lives in a farm.
I wonder if I will have the chance to explore a big city.
I hear my father's farm animals as I wake up.
I see the light blue sky.
I want to be able to fall in love with Renato.
I am a pretty and intelligent girl.

I pretend to not be in love with Renato, because every girl wants his attention.
I feel the love connection between me and Renato.
I touch the flower petals.
I worry if Renato is ever going to come back after few years that have passed by.
I cry when I did not see my fiancé in our wedding day
I am confused and heart broken.

I understand that things happen for a reason
I say to myself that I have to be strong each day.
I dream of living in a big city
I try hard every day to reach my dreams.
I hope one day I will reunite again with Renato my first love.
I am an independent girl.

                         Overview 

The theme of my book is gender which expresses the difference between females and males. I choose this book , because the cover of the book caught my attention it reflected a picture on my mind that I had seen before. I also read the summary and my attention was fully focused on the book. I believe that my book is going to be about a girl's love story . 

Hero

"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."  - Christopher Reeve 

The meaning of this quote is a person having the strength and motivation to over come any obstacles. A person who is consider a hero should be independent within themselves.

I agree with the meaning of the quote , because a person who's seen as a hero should be brave and have the courage to keep moving forward Even on the hard times.

My hero is my Mom . She has been trough many tough obstacles raising me up on her own. I see her work hard each day to earn money to provide a shelter , food and clothing for me. She has always been brave and strong for me when she's breaking down into million pieces inside. All this years she has been independent on her own without depending on any one else.

Bully

In the streets is Chicago times can be hard. There is three young boys named Thorn, Blaze and Marvin who are high school students living in Chicago. Each morning they walk to school together, but they always go through a bad experience from being bullied by two older guys always wearing a black hoodie with ripped pants always looking dirty.There is not one single day that goes by that they have not been pushed, yelled at, shoved against the wall, hit or things taken away from them. Each day they are victims of bullying, but not one person is strong enough to defend them because of their fears. The bullies are from the streets living under a bridge; they have no home, no love and no support from their families for choosing bad decisions. The bullies would always rob people for living and were in dirty business that never led to a good ending. Having no love from a person is effecting them emotionally and mentally causing physical violence with victims. All the violence that Thorn, Blaze and Marvin experience is changing the way they think their minds are speaking to them, so they can be brave and strong to be able to stand up for themselves against the enemy. August 10, 1997 was the last day that they let their fears take control of them ; they had courage to defend themselves. Later the bullies that were criminals got locked up for breaking the law they were trapped in a cell like an ape.
